Plan a trip to Brownsville on the weekend of October 13th and take advantage of the biggest discount of the
year at Gladys Porter Zoo, jam out at the Brownsville Latin Jazz Festival
and get discounts on area attractions in the Mitte Cultural District.
Discount Days at Gladys Porter Zoo Gladys Porter Zoo will have special discount admission prices for Upper Valley and out-of-Rio Grande Valley residents
on October 13th, 14th, and 15th. Guests can rack up some impressive savings with 60 to 75 percent off regular admission rates
and see the new zoo babies that have recently debuted, including a baby orangutan, baby capybaras,
baby flamingos and an adorable baby red-flanked duiker.
The admission rate will be $6.00 per adult and $4.00 per child for those living in
Hidalgo County, Starr County, Reynosa, Nuevo Progreso, and outside of the Rio Grande Valley.
When purchasing tickets at the gate, guests will need to present proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill,
to receive the discounted rate. Only one person per family or group will need to present proof of residency.
Visitors living outside of the United States may present a passport or other identification to satisfy this requirement.
Brownsville Latin Jazz Festival Make plans to attend the only annual Latin Jazz festival in Texas. The lineup this year features Camille Meza in a Latin Jazz concert
on October 13th and Superfónicos in Latin Jazz in the Park on October 14th. Chilean-born, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, Camille Meza fuses many different influences with an emphasis on South American music styles including Samba and Bossa.
Colombian funk band Superfónicos blends the indigenous and African roots of the band’s Colombian heritage
into rhythms and melodies that will have you getting your groove on and showcasing your dance moves in the park.
