Party for the Planet is the Zoo’s celebration of Earth Day where we bring eco-conscious members of the community together to help share the message of conservation.  From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Zoo will spotlight conservation with fun activities, face painting, and contests for children. Local organizations will also be present to discuss the importance of going green and how visitors can help preserve the Earth’s resources for a better environment.

Again this year, we will have activities for Girl Scouts to help them accomplish 90 to 100% of their badge requirements.  Girl Scout badge activities will be finalized soon.  Last year scouts worked on Daisy – Design with Nature Badge, Brownies – Design with Nature Badge, Junior – Design with Nature Badge, Cadettes – Trees Badge.

Party for the Planet is the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America. “Party For the Planet™ offers the perfect reason for families to visit their local AZA-accredited zoo and aquarium to honor wildlife this Earth Day,” said Former AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy. “We know the 180 million annual visitors to AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums have a strong interest in taking action to help protect the future of our planet and its inhabitants.

In the past, over 3,000 visitors have attended the Zoo to celebrate this international holiday. The Zoo’s focus through this event is to raise awareness of the importance of conserving the Earth’s natural resources. Make sure to stop by and learn how you can make a difference in our community by taking care of the world we live in.

Party for the Planet is a free event with regular admission or Zoo membership. For more information, email or call (956) 546-7187.
